The annual District Writing Diagnostic will be administered during the two-week window of August 17-31. This tool, an essay that requires students to synthesize material from a variety of sources, is used to establish a baseline for student writing skills in grades 7-12. Individual classroom teachers will score their students' essays to determine strengths and weaknesses, and results will drive instruction. A second diagnostic will be administered in the spring to measure growth.
